“Anne Moody’s Mississippi” was a study away course is cross-listed between the history department and the honors program. During the course, we read Anne Moody's autobiography and critically analyze the events of her life time in comparison to her past and our present. Over spring break, we all piled into a van and took a tour of the south highlighting key events and places in Moody's life. Once we returned we each conducted our own research related to the topics discussed in the class: race gender and class and created a

multimedia group presentation that was later disseminated for honors faculty students and staff. For my research investigated women’s place in the civil rights movement, Ella Baker (a lesser known but important Civil Rights activist), and the importance of Tougaloo College during the Civil Rights movement.
